NovicesMeet the Veterans, Independence Day celebrated with a difference in Markaz.

Kozhikode: 8000 school children, 2000 Shari’a students, 600 teachers, 400 tiny tots, hundreds of staff and employees gathered to salute the National Flag and honour two veteran freedom fighters on the 70th India Independence day, taking the pledge of protecting the “Unity in Diversity” of India by all democratic means, here in Markaz, making the day unique and eventful.

The Independence Day Grand Assembly organized at the main campus of Markazu Saquafathi Sunniyya, Karanthur, was noticed by itsmassive participation of students ranging from kindergarten to research scholars, from its different campuses, live presence of freedom fighters, oath taking led by the General Secretary and with colourful celebrations, that exchanged sweets packed with messages of India’s rich tradition and revered leaders, to the neighbouring houses of the institution.

Noted freedom fighters Sri.Narayanakkidavu of Nallalam and Sri S. Nagappan Nair from Balussery, with their still green reminiscence of the great struggle, were honoured in the function, by Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar. Earlier, he hoisted the National Flag, opening the programme and in his keynote address he reiterated the student community to stick to the democratic values and secular strength of the country.

“Regardless of religion, region and language thousands dedicated themselves to the freedom movement, the result of which is what we relish now”. “This kind of unity strengthened the nation to stand together against all odds during and after the independence”, said Kanthapuram.

“When our great leaders like Gandhiji, Nehru, MaulanaAzad, BabuRajendra Prasad and Ali Brothers inspired the countrymen at the centre, Muslim Scholars like Umar Qazi and Sayyid Alavi Thangal of Mampuram, Aali Musliyar…etc kindled the spirit of nationalism in believers in Kerala villages through spiritual teachings and non-cooperation, which formed a great anti-British movement here”, stated Kanthapuram in the speech.

But in the present day India some are questioning the integrity of Muslims and that shows nothing but their ignorance about history. Regardless of the ruling government, Muslims are taught to love their mother country and keep allegiance to it by their great text; the holy Qur’an. It is an attempt of folly to break the harmonious existence of Indians with deceptive statements or dubious actions, added Kanthapuram.
