Tripple Talaq issue: center government creates a sense of discrimination among the Muslims

Calicut: The approach and treatment of the center government in regard to the tripple Talaq issue
creates a sense of discrimination among the Muslims, said Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the state secretory
of the CPI (M), while delivering his keynote speech at the cultural conference held as part of the ruby
jubilee celebration of the Jamia Markaz, Calicut. “The reformations in a religion have to start from
itself. The religious leaders are the best ones to initiate the reformations within a religion. An
external force should not impose changes on religious matters. Presently, across the nation, there is
a feeling that one particular religion is treated with indifference by the ruling government. The
center government is not treating all religions equally. The approach and treatment of the center in
the triple Talaq issue is creating a feeling of discrimination among the Muslims” – he elaborated.
Touching upon the reported boycott of a particular political party in the Markaz conference, though
which was denied by the state leaders of the latter, Kodiyeri said “everyone should have the
tolerance to approach the diverse and different perspectives. Those who use boycott as a gimmick
to threaten is acting against the great tradition of Kerala rooted in the pluralism. Kanthapuram has
publicly expressed his dispositions with us on multiple issues as we also disagreed with him
on several topics. However, both parties treated the differences in the perspectives with
mutual respect and tolerance” he further added.
Historian MGS Narayanan inaugurated the cultural conference. AM Arif MLA, Kaithapram
Damodaran Namboothirippadu, Dr.Hussain Randathani and P.Surendran also talked in the
event.
